Learn more about our cast & crew
Derek Burwell
Derek Burwell has had the pleasure of working with various community theater projects for the last 20 years. Highlighted roles have been “Mercutio” in Romeo and Juliet, “Leslie” in Love, Sex, and the IRS, “Puck” in Bard in the Yard, “Agador” in The Birdcage, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show as “Frankenfurter”. Derek has been on the creative ground-floor of several local projects including Bard in the Yard, and Poe & Pints, and has been privileged to work with such organizations as Silver Stage Players, the GBC Theatre, and Ghost Light Productions. He appreciates theater for the opportunity to examine this great experiment of life from different angles, and best of all gets to share what he finds with others. When not enjoying a romp through the lands of make believe, Derek tortures dirt for a living at a local mine. He is deeply grateful for the cast and patrons’ continued belief in the Poe & Pints Project, and for the trust Frank Sawyer has shown by giving him care of the tremendous investment of work, talent, and vision that Frank has poured into the project over the last seven years. Derek returns to the Directing role for a second year for Poe & Pints 2022.

Hilary Griffin
Hilary Griffin is recently back in her home town of Spring Creek after 9 years of adventures in Chicago. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to perform with the Silver Stage Players after a two year hiatus where she traded in her acting scripts for baby books and nursery songs playing the role of mama to Miss Ruby Jean. Before tackling parenthood, Hilary and her husband Taylor, lived in Chicago where she was able to study and perform improv and sketch comedy on the stages of The Second City Chicago, iO Chicago, Stage 773, and The Annoyance Theatre. Her sketch group “Fake Quotes” performed in several sketch comedy showcases including The Comedy Central Showcase in 2018. She had the privilege to work with community theatre companies in Chicago where she played one of her favorite roles of Baba Yaga in The Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls. She would like to thank her family and friends for all the support and babysitting during the rehearsal process, her husband Taylor who has been out fighting fires all summer, the Silver Stage Players for welcoming her into the Elko theatre community, and the DLC for hosting this awesome event. Have fun, enjoy the show, and tip your bartenders! Cheers!

Dusty Barker
Dustin Barker is so vain he actually consulted a nutritionist before this. Can you say insecure? On top of that he’s unemployed, lives with his parents, hates kids and pets, and watched Deadpool 26 times within 3 days of buying it. And probably has a slight drinking problem.
Josh Rogers
Josh is a newcomer to SSP and the Elko theater scene. Throughout middle and high school, he acted in a number of productions, including Into The Woods and My Fair Lady. His involvement in theater then lapsed. His wife began working on productions in Elko while he was pursuing studies at UNR. Watching his wife’s shows, he found that he missed acting, so after graduating Josh joined SSP and tried out for Poe & Pints last year and made his SSP acting debut.
Sara Walls
After a long absence, Sara rejoined the theater community in 2019, when she appeared in Poe and Pints. Since then, she has acted in several live and online one acts. Katie Wiebe
Katie Wiebe has been slowly getting involved in the theatre community since The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 2017. Though she does not have a lot of experience with theatre, she loves the adrenaline and community involvement she gets through acting and plans to continue to do so. With much support from family and friends she has been focused on getting more involved with local theatre. Katie was last seen in SSP’s Bard in the Yard 5 and Poe & Pints.
Kelsey Rogers
Kelsey has spent many years supporting the arts in Elko. She has played in the orchestra for shows such as Camelot and White Christmas, provided costuming for shows such as Rocky Horror Picture Show, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and many others, and can sometimes be found singing (poorly) in the ensembles for musicals. She can also occasionally be found on stage in productions such as Poe & Pints, She Kills Monsters, and Bard in the Yard, Incredible Stories. She looks forward to continuing to support the arts in Elko with her new role as Treasurer with SSP.
Albert Harmer
Albert has been a part of the theatre community for just about a year now. He has performed in the Elko Theatre Coalition’s One Act Festival, As You Like It, Silver Stage Players’ Bard in the Yard 4, and Ghost Light Productions’ The Birdcage. As a member of GLP he has also participated in their improv activities downtown during the monthly wine-walks. Albert was most recently seen performing in SSP's First Impressions this past summer. Albert makes his return to Poe & Pints this year!

Donald has been in the Elko area since 1995. His first show was in 1998, playing Neville Landless in The Mystery of Edwin Drood with SSP. In 2005, Donald played Conrade and created the set for Much Ado About Nothing. He has been involved, as an actor or technician, in almost all of the SSP shows since then. Among others, stage manager for the children’s theatre production of Land of the Dragon, played the Priest in The Man of La Mancha, technical director in Ghost Light Productions' Poe & Pints, set design for Glengarry Glen Ross, and participating in Bard in the Yard. Mr. Jones has directed such shows as The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, The Princess and the Enchanted Swans, and The Pirates of Penzance.
